The West Bend School District currently has openings for substitute teachers for anyone who has earned a bachelor's degree in any field, and is interested in obtaining a permit for substitute teaching work. Substitute teachers serve in a district-wide capacity: elementary, middle, and/or high school levels.
The following steps are required for those who are seeking a substitute teacher permit:
1. Attend a one-hour informational meeting on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 8 a.m. at the Education Service Center, 735 S. Main St, West Bend, WI, in the lower-level board room. You must PRE-REGISTER HERE.
2. Apply to Teachers on Call and complete the hiring process.
3. Attend a Substitute Teacher Training on April 29. Information regarding this will be shared with you on April 2, 2016.
4 Shadow/mentor with an aide and teacher at a designated school for five days. You will be evaluated and must be recommended for substitute teaching by the principal.
5. Final step: Apply for a three-year substitute permit through DPI. The West Bend School District must endorse form for licensure.
