GPS Education Partners is a non-profit organization that partners with local school districts and businesses to offer an immersive educational pathway based in the manufacturing environment. Since 2000, this unique program has successfully prepared students for meaningful careers in manufacturing and for continued education.
GPS Program Overview
- Consecutive 21-month program during junior and senior years of high school.
- 2 hours in the classroom, 6 hours on shop floor in business rotations (2-3 during program).
- Curriculum includes: math, science, social studies, financial literacy, communications, and information technology as well as personal development and workforce readiness.
- Entry into the program requires students to: be 16 years of age, have parental/guardian sponsorship and support, be willing to work in a manufacturing environment, be physically able to perform assigned jobs, be committed to completing high school education requirements while in workplace setting, pass drug tests throughout the 21-month program.
GPS Program Student Outcomes and Achievements
- Receive a high school diploma from home high school.
- Earn a two-year Youth Apprenticeship Certificate from the Department of Workforce Development.
- Gain 21 months of real work experience and personal development.
- Opportunity to earn advanced standing within the Wisconsin Technical College System and become a Certified Production Technician through the Manufacturing Skills Standard Council (MSSC) program.
