Busing Details

GO Riteway Transportation is the busing partner for the West Bend schools. Routing information will be complete in late August. Families will be sent the detailed information.

GO Riteway is committed to providing safe, effective transportation for all eligible students. All GO Riteway drivers are hired solely by GO Riteway Transportation. In addition to the GO Riteway drivers and vehicles, the district owns and operates a small fleet of vehicles that are used to assist in transporting students with special needs, Head Start students, and other small groups of students. They are also used for field trips, activities, and sporting events for all grade levels.

Eligible students qualify for busing if you live outside the walk zone. Walk zones are defined as living less than or equal to:

4K: .5 mile                                                          Kindergarten: 1 mile

1st - 4th grade: 1.25 miles                                5th - 6th grade: 1.75 miles

7th  - 12th grade: 2 miles

If your child is not eligible for transportation, you may contact GO Riteway to find out if a "parent contract" for transportation may be available for your area. If not, it is your responsibility to make sure your child gets to and from school on time.

You may also qualify for transportation if you live in a Hazardous Area. Hazardous areas are defined by the district and approved by the Washington County Sheriff's department. If you have questions relating to your child's specific route, please contact GO Riteway Transportation.

Here Comes the Bus App

All families with children who ride a bus can begin tracking the bus with the Here Comes the Bus app.

All notifications regarding a bus will be sent via the app as push notifications or emails. Please download the app to get the latest information. Get the app from the App Store or Google Play. To set up the app:

  • Download Here Comes the Bus app or visit herecomesthebus.com.
  • To ensure that only family members of the child are able to track the bus, using Skyward Family Access, get your child’s student ID number. To find it, after you login to Skyward on the left click on “Student Info” and look for the “Other ID” right under the child’s photo.
  • Going back to the app, click “Sign Up” at the bottom of the app screen.
  • Enter your email, first and last name, and the school district code 29782, and click “Continue.”
  • Under “My Students,” click “Add” and enter your child’s last name and student ID number that you found in Skyward.
  • Confirm your information and you’re ready to begin using Here Comes the Bus! Make sure you sign up for notifications.

Contact GO Riteway with questions at 262-429-1334 or westbend@goriteway.com

Family Transportation Contract/Request Form

Families with students who are not eligible for bus transportation but would like to pay for it must complete a form. The provision of transportation under Sec. 121.545 Wis. Stats., is subject to the following criteria:

  1. The student is to be transported to a school in his/her specific attendance area.
  2. There is space available on an existing route.  Students who may move into the district and who are required to be transported will have priority which may result in the loss of the contracted service.
  3. Bus routes will not be established or changed to accommodate contracts made under this section. A contracted student may have to walk to a pick-up point designated by the district.
  4. Available space will be assigned first-come, first served on the basis of the date on which the district receives the required payment and completed application.

Please complete the contract/request if interested. Contact Andrew Sarnow at 262-335-5403 or asarnow@wbsd-schools.org with questions.
