The topics listed below are small group opportunities that your child may participate in. Support groups are offered to provide additional services to children with common needs or concerns.

Groups meet for 6-8 weeks for 30 minutes each week. Group size is limited to between 4-6 children. Please contact Mrs. Becker for more information on groups or if you would like your child to participate in a group.

New Kids Group - This group is open at the beginning of the school year to any student who is new to Green Tree. This group assists new students in the sometimes difficult transition to a new school.

K.I.M. [Kids In the Middle] Group – Many families change due to separation, divorce, and remarriage. This group matches kids who have experienced these changes. We will discuss and learn about the good and not-so-good family happenings that put “Kids In the Middle”.

You've Got a Friend/Friendship Group - Friendships are a very important part of the elementary school student’s life. Developing and maintaining relationships can be difficult as children grow. Some issues discussed in this group include making and keeping friends and dealing with conflict.

MAD (Making Anger Disappear) - This group is designed to help students cope with anger and frustration in a positive and healthy way. All people get angry. But sometimes our anger leads us to bad decisions and can ruin our relationships. This group will help you learn about how anger affects you and how to manage your angry feelings in healthy ways.

Gone but not Forgotten Group - The death of a parent, sibling or grandparent is a difficult situation for children to understand. When someone we love dies, we experience a set of feelings called GRIEF. This group helps kids understand the grief process and learn special ways to remember the person who died.

AIM High! – Put your best foot forward and do your best in school! This group teaches you to improve your study skills, build school success, and learn how to get organized.

Beat the Stress! - Got stress? Learn how to identify stress at home, at school, and how it affects your body. In this group you will learn many healthy ways to reduce stress.

Concerned Kids - A small group for students concerned about the alcohol or drug abuse of someone they love. Sometimes the adults in our lives choose to use alcohol in an unsafe way, or use illegal drugs. This group is for kids who want to learn and talk about the alcohol and drug abuse of someone they love.

Visiting Day – Do you have a parent or loved one in prison or jail? Talk with other kids whose families have gone through this too. Find out what feelings and issues are similar and how to deal with your feelings and the changes in the family.

IMAGINE (I’M A Great Individual Needing Encouragement) - A group that focuses on what makes you special and unique.
