Would You Like Fries with That?
Local McDonald’s Owner/Operator, Kilian Management, invites families to the Galactic McDonalds in West Bend for designated McTeacher Nights to help raise money for participating elemenetary schools. School staff will work behind the counter taking orders from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. while families have a great galactic time dining at McDonalds. Killian Management will donate a 20 percent of the sales from each of the designated McTeacher nights back to the school.
Decorah Elementary - Monday, January 30 McLane Elementary - Thursday, February 2 Green Tree Elementary - Wednesday, February 15 Open Enrollment Begins February 6, 2012 Wisconsin’s inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend school district other than the one in which they live. Applications may be submitted to up to three nonresident school districts. Students in 5K to grade 12 may apply to participate in open enrollment. Open enrollment for pre-K, 4-K and early childhood education is limited. The Open Enrollment application period for the 2012-13 school year is from February 6-24, 2012. The application period closes at 4:00PM on February 24, 2012. Late applications will not be accepted for any reason! Please call 262-335-5438 with any questions.
Support Staff Employee of the Year Award The Board of Education will honor up to five WBSD support staff members for their outstanding contributions to the WBSD in the areas of innovation, teamwork, communications, customer service and learning for all. Nomination forms will be accepted from staff, students, administration, parents and the community before February 17, 2012. Candidates must have three nominations to be considered for the Employee of the Year Award. 2011-2012 Rolfs Educational Foundation Award Nominations for the 2011-2012 Rolfs Educational Foundation Award will be accepted until February 3, 2012. A grant of $4,000 from the ROLFS EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION is designated annually between four chosen WBSD faculty members who are nominated by students, parents, community members, peers and administrators from the elementary school level, middle school level, high school level and certified special services level. The purpose of the awards is to recognize and stimulate outstanding contributions to education. Last year’s honoree’s included: Kristen Krezinski , Decorah Elementary School first-grade teacher; Cathy Mackowski, Badger Middle School psychologist; Darci Ketter, McLane Elementary School music teacher; Paul Delain, West High School science teacher. ![]() Cat's Pajamas Coming Soon! The West Bend High School Choir's will host nationally-known music sensation, "The Cat's Pajamas" on February 3, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $12/adult and $8/student and are available at the high school book keeper or through any choir student.
We Hear You West Bend
The City of West Bend, in partnership with the West Bend Joint School District, UW-Washington County and Moraine Park Technical College are asking for your help to vote for “West Bend” in the Reader’s Digest, “We Hear You America” campaign. Join the many communities throughout the nation who are registering at the Reader’s Digest website to promote their city. A total of 18 prizes will be awarded to nominated cities in the form of a donation from Reader’s Digest in support of their community initiatives. The first place prize is $50,000. In 2011, the City of West Bend received a $1,000 donation from Reader’s Digest, so let’s make it happen again in 2012. All entries must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on March 1, 2012.
